It’s November. This means National Novel Writing Month is live.
Writing goal 50,000 words in 30 Days
Daily goal 1,667 words
Does writing a blog count? No, get to the manuscript and punch it out.
Working on it, working on it. Currently, the second book is at 97,674 words, and I have begun to work on parts of Book three as well. So, if I get Book two completed, and get a chunk of book three done, that should hit 50k words by the end of the month. In theory at least.
My current stumbling block; writing a military-style assassination targeting thing and then detailing military action on a tactical as well as strategic scale across multiple battlefronts.
This involves a writing style for each different character block to ensure each set of characters and their focus has a specific voice and style.
When dealing with Ryo Camelin and Viktor Kalen I choose a more rigid style without a lot of romance or distracting activity. These are military men and they do not allow themselves to be easily distracted when on the job.
Kyasarin is written in a very erotic and romantic style befitting her characterization. She is a seductress and a protector. Able and willing to do whatever it takes to maintain her little piece of the universe.
Ayanaris is a mix between Kya’s style and Ryo’s style. She sits in the middle. Somewhat rigid with a hint of eroticism to keep things a tad spicy.
Willem is written in a style that I think is sort of like Heinlein’s juvenile, all grown up. He is pretty much a Boy Scout, stuck in an impossible situation and having to fight to survive.
Other characters, like Gya, Tya, and Emperor Tyo – are all written as needed but each has their own spin on events to keep them feeling separate when reading them.
Enough about the characters and the style. Got to get to the meat of the work, the actual content. Back to the grind.
